Associate Director US Medical Affairs - Consumer

Your tasks and responsibilities

The primary responsibilities of this role, Associate Director US Medical Affairs - Consumer, are to:

  • Provide the medical and scientific expertise in assessing and interpreting clinical studies and data as well as additional external medical and scientific information which can be translated and used in commercialization activities including development of clinical claims, advertising claims, promotional claims and new product opportunities to support the company's objectives for US upper respiratory brands;

  • Provide medical guidance and implementation of product development programs to support and drive the development of claims and new products;

  • Effectively communicate with the marketing/commercialization groups as well as technical groups in identifying scientific insights, educating and influencing non-scientific decision makers regarding business opportunities related to clinical information;

  • Direct clinical study publication process, publish and present scientific data in relevant journals or conferences;

  • Provides input, reviews and approves advertising copy/promotional copy, public statements and internal statements from a local (US) Medical perspective;

  • Contribute medical/scientific input into Medical submissions to US FDA;

  • Be aware of and have involvement in understanding scientific category dynamics including different classes of drugs associated with each category, understanding the mechanisms of action, PK/PD profiles, safety and efficacy dimensions as well as unique profile characteristics to contribute to the strategic planning and development in support of existing and new brands;

  • Manage Key Opinion Leaders and assist the conduct of medical advisory boards/meetings.

Who you are

Your success will be driven by your demonstration of our LIFE values. More specifically related to this position, Bayer seeks an incumbent who possesses the following:

Required Qualifications:

  • An advanced degree in the Medical or Biological or Pharmacological field, such as PhD or PharmD with 4 to 6 years of experience in Medical Affairs, Clinical Research, Regulatory or Product Development; or a Masters Degree with 6 to 8 years of experience in Medical Affairs, Clinical Research or Regulatory;

  • Strong communication skills, oral and written, as well as managerial and interpersonal skills;

  • Ability to interact with and influence people at all levels within Bayer;

  • A thorough knowledge of scientific information, the ability to interpret and assimilate scientific data, and thought leader development skills;

  • Good understanding of the key pre-clinical and clinical trial design elements, including statistical considerations, operations and interpretation of these activities as well as regulatory requirements.
