OPIC is an independent agency with a skilled and talented team focused on supporting U.S. investment in developing countries. OPIC offers financing and political risk insurance for projects in Asia, Africa and Latin America. The Office of Investment Policy (OIP) analyzes OPIC’s projects that have received OPIC support to understand the broader impacts of its projects in Asia, Africa and Latin America. It prepares videos, social media and other presentations that convey the impacts of these projects on multiple stakeholders including businesses, communities, governments and economies. OIP also analyzes projects to ensure their eligibility for OPIC assistance with regard to the agency's policies on worker rights and environmental standards, employment and development and market effects; performs risk analyses and portfolio analyses; and monitors existing projects to assure continued adherence to contractual provisions and statutory requirements. Presentations related to this work and related monitoring trips are also developed and conveyed to internal management and external stakeholders including the Hill and other government officials, business executives and NGO leadership.
The Development Outcomes Graphic Design internship requires the intern to develop creative, effective designs that will be used to promote the stories and data related to OPIC’s projects in Africa, Asia and Latin America. The objective is to show their impact on the communities and economies in other countries as well as in the U.S. The intern will have the opportunity to work on videos, social media, presentations and other items that will be viewed by top level government officals, business executives and leaders of NGOs here and overseas. Ideally, the intern will work on slides, videos, presentations and infographics that have strong impact and visually convey messages that demonstrate the development effects of individual projects and other areas relevant to OPIC’s mission. The intern will have the opportunity to work with videographers and photographers on several projects. The intern will work for the Office of Investment Policy but may also support efforts completed in coordination with the Office of External Affairs.
