World Wildlife Fund (WWF), the world’s leading conservation organization, seeks an Internal Communications Intern.
Major Function: Write and edit content for WWF internal communications channels, including the weekly staff enewsletter, intranet, and in-house blogs. Research select topics and conduct in-person, phone, or email interviews with staff. Help produce large meetings, special events, and other staff engagement opportunities.
Background: WWF is one of the largest environmental nonprofit organizations in the world, and our US team is comprised of 600 staff members at our Washington, D.C., office and in field offices across the US and world. The Internal Communications team collaborates with all other teams across the organization to convey vital information, especially ensuring that staff feel they have the info they need to do their jobs well and that remote staff feel connected to headquarters.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Writing and/or editing digital content
Interviewing staff and writing short stories about them
Collaborating with managers to develop and implement multi-channel communications plans
Conducting photo research
Assisting with the production of meetings, such as the monthly all-staff meeting and monthly communicators meeting
Help produce and site manage staff engagement events; duties could include collecting RSVPs, meeting vendors, writing runs of show, setting up events, and running microphones
Assist staff photographer with arranging and managing photo shoots
Administrative tasks, as assigned

Minimum Requirements: You are in your junior or senior year of an undergraduate program, pursuing a degree in a communications-related field (i.e. journalism, media, public relations, marketing), or are pursuing a graduate degree. We will also consider recent graduates who are able to commit to nine to 12 months in the role.
Exceptional journalistic-style writing, editing, and proofreading skills
Commitment to good grammar and fact checking
Comfortable conducting in-person and telephone interviews
Natural curiosity and an interest in conservation
Experience with or an interest in learning enewsletter design and deployment
Willingness to help produce meetings and events (if if there are less-than-glamorous tasks involved)
Solid experience using Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook; familiarity with Microsoft SharePoint and Adobe Photoshop a plus.
