Macmillan Learning is currently offering a paid internship opportunity for summer 2019. Interns will be provided with the opportunity to participate in work related assignments, gain practical work experience, and network with employees from various departments.
The Macmillan Learning Internship Program is available for students currently enrolled in a college or university or recent graduates within the past 3 months.
Internship would provide the basis for developing the right tools for pursuing a publishing career by exposure to different bookmaking experiences – textbooks and supplements, print and digital.
The tasks help expand skill base for a production editorial position.
Responsibilities include providing support for our editors in some of the following: research, proofreading (and proofreading against TOC), scanning, manuscript preparations, data entry, filing, mailing, copyright processing, collating corrections and insetting
x-ref to page proof, working on reprints, coding manuscripts with type marking codes for design and typesetting and special project.
Reviewing and proofreading ePUB and learning why they are so important to the publishing world. There may be opportunities to attend book and author meetings as well as company events. There will be opportunities to reach out and meet people with other jobs
within the publishing world for informational interviews, it is a chance to broaden your understanding of publishing roles.
Required Skills / Knowledge:
You must be a current or rising college senior, or recent graduate. You should have production skills from working on a school newspaper or publication ideal but not required. Computer skills such as proficiency in Microsoft Word, including online editing,
and Microsoft Excel; knowledge of Adobe Acrobat; Internet skills including ftp software.
