Summary Of Position:
Reporting to the Senior Alumni Engagement Officer, the Alumni Engagement Officer is responsible for building relationships with Elon alumni to engage them in activities that will enhance the future of our university. This position will design a strategic approach to identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward our Alumni as partners, advocates, and investors. This position will play a vital role in helping University Advancement to achieve its engagement and fundraising goals.
Requires bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university. Elon graduates strongly preferred.

Position requires the ability to and experience with making presentations to various groups of constituencies. Additionally, the position requires the ability to meet face to face with all levels of constituents and ability to handle constituent complaints. The position requires the ability to work effectively as a team member, work on multiple projects, and possess strong leadership, organization and customer relations skills.

Length Of Experience:
One to three years professional/internship experience in sales, recruiting, marketing or customer service experience and/or training preferred; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Managing a portfolio of approximately 1,000 alumni annually to encourage them to stay connected, informed and involved; recruiting and expanding Elon’s professional network; and encouraging annual giving.
Connecting with alumni based on Advancement university priorities through email, social media, mailings, phone calls, and face to face meetings either at Elon or in alumni cities of residence.
Communicating the strategic vision of Elon and our commitment to developing innovative alumni programs to advance and support the Elon graduate.
Assisting with Elon events including, Homecoming, reunions, chapter activities, Family Weekend, Visit Days, Commencement, Evenings for Elon, athletic events, etc.
Identifying alumni as for volunteers and board prospects for roles including: Elon Alumni Board, Young Alumni Council, reunion, affinity and class committees, Social Media Ambassadors, etc.
Utilizing technology that includes Raisers Edge NXT, Elon’s internal database to run queries and exports to identify alumni for engagement, and maintain excellent information within the internal database to improve alumni outreach.
Gathering alumni information and success stories to support effective research and the celebration of alumni accomplishments.
Providing exceptional customer service to our alumni acting with the greatest amount of professionalism and expressing the highest sense of urgency.
Actively enhancing professional development by participating in educational opportunities; reading professional publications; attending appropriate conferences, participating in webinars and professional organizations, building relationships with colleagues at Elon and other institutions, fundraising meetings, etc.
