The design of the program invites interns to engage directly in Schwab’s culture of service, while challenging them with a blend of learning programs, team-building activities, networking opportunities, and enriching work projects. Features of our 2019 program include:

  • Business Track Project : Work with a Schwab organization that provides a meaningful and valuable experience to translate classroom learning into real business projects.

  • Intern Cohort Project : Partner with other interns to brainstorm, discuss learning experiences, and present solutions.

  • Learning Activities : Participate in facilitated classroom training, team discussions and events, individual assessments and activities, senior leader meetings, and on-the-job training.

  • Dedicated Intern Manager : Receive regular feedback from your manager, participate in career-related discussions, and provide your own feedback.

Because interns are considered a primary pipeline for full-time opportunities, every intern candidate must be eligible for full-time employment upon graduation and must also meet the following requirements:

  • Enrolled in a current undergraduate program tracking to a bachelor’s degree

  • Plan to graduate between December 2019 and May/June 2020

  • Must be able to work full time and be on-site at assigned Schwab location during the 9-week program (June 10 to August 9)

  • Have specific skills as needed by the hosting Business Track

Business Track Job Descriptions:

Branch Network Intern

With over 325 offices, our Branch Network is part of the broader Investor Services organization and is primarily responsible for providing advice and counsel to individuals and families with all aspects of their financial needs, including wealth management, retirement planning, educational planning, investment management, estate planning, active investing, managed banking, and lending needs. We are seeking interns that are driven, motivated people who believe that personal engagement, a sense of ownership, and a commitment to help our clients with their financial futures.

The intern will have the opportunity to work within a Branch in one of our designated locations and learn how each branch builds relationships with clients, engages within the communities we serve, and how to partner with specialists across the country to support our clients with clear, relevant, and actionable financial solutions. The branch experience is designed to provide interns with exposure to our Branch network and a variety of branch roles. Interns are being hired for branch offices located across the United States in key strategic locations.

Help with following key responsibilities

  • Develop a strong understanding of the Branches through observation and execution of various activities delivering client services.

  • Partner with the Branch team to support networking and community involvement activities.

  • Support social media and marketing efforts to expand and enhance client outreach activities.

  • Engage in a special project designated by the Branch Network Leadership Team based upon a current strategic challenge and deliver recommendations in a presentation to leadership.

Client Service Intern

With five contact centers serving our retail clients, Client Service & Support is part of the broader Investor Services organization and is primarily responsible for providing assistance to retail client segments.

The Client Service Intern will receiving training on emotional intelligence and conversation skills in order to participate in basic client interactions, while learning how Schwab interfaces with different client segments. The opportunity is in one of four contact centers (Indianapolis, Dallas, Denver and Phoenix), with 1-week working in a local branch office.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a strong understanding of wealth management through serving our clients

  • Perform in a fast-paced, inbound service center environment while delivering outstanding service to our clients, taking inbound calls for approximately 2-3 hours a day

  • As part of a project group, research and create observations on strategic wealth management challenges and deliver recommendations in a presentation to leadership

  • Observe the FC Academy program in action, gaining an understanding of how Schwab develops future financial advisors for their role in our branch network

  • Spend time with Associate Financial Consultants (AFCs) & Financial Consultants (FCs) to learn the role and understand the potential career path through the FC Academy program
