Help Autodesk and its customers understand what the Future of Learning will look like. Working with the Corporate Strategy team, you ll build speculative narratives, helping us explore potential futures by making them relatable and tangible.
The mission of Autodesk Research is to deliver strategic foresight to the future of Autodesk s business through exploration and experimentation, and to provide tangible validations that showcase risks and opportunities. A key element in these explorations is how we tell stories about the future in order to make them come true. We use story first as conjecture, to help define the path for our research efforts, which are often undertaken in partnership with customers who share a desire to explore similar territory. As projects are completed, the role of story flips from explore to explain. The Corporate Strategy team sits within Autodesk Research in order to capitalize on the symbiotic relationship between strategy, science, and stories.
The Future of Learning is dramatically changing as strikingly new professional conditions emerge. There are several characteristics of the learn/work cycle that are becoming clear. First, our industrial age educational institutions were created for a learn to do world where we learned a fixed stock of knowledge and deployed it over a relatively stable career. But with the rise of new forms of automation and deployment of machine intelligence, fixed professions are giving way to changing flows of professional knowledge that require continuous learning. This new do to learn world forces us to rethink the relationships between learning and work.
Engage with thought leaders inside and outside of Autodesk to understand the issues that shape the processes within our customer s industries
Formulate visual and editorial concepts, as well as work collaboratively with teams across Autodesk to develop a unified understanding of the role of our tools in the Future of Learning
Participate with the Corporate Strategy team in forming and communicating a strategic point of view for Autodesk
This internship will focus on two interwoven questions related to the Future of Learning:
1) Within the context of our tools, what defines skills - how are they measured and what insights from tool-use could be leveraged to create a reciprocal learning relationship between our tools and customers?
2) How might we use our tools to identify both preference and/or bias related to skills within industry workflows and other related collaborative sequential processes.
Full-time student pursuing a Masters or Doctorate in Cognitive Science, Data Visualization, Learning Technology, Machine Learning or another related discipline degree at an accredited program in the United States with at least one academic term to complete post internship to be eligible for internship participation.
Proven capability working with large datasets and developing rapid prototypes or scenarios that communicate new narratives
Insatiable curiosity and an understanding of how asking questions is key to igniting ideas
Work that validates a deep understanding of developmental learning, human-machine interaction and data analysis
Self-confidence and strong influencing skills
Demonstrated achievement in learning science and work linking learning and machine intelligence
Sophistication working with researcher and developer tools
Internships @ Autodesk
Our summer internship program runs for ten to twelve weeks from JuneAugust 2019. We start interviewing in January and continue to on a rolling basis. We accept online applications through March but prioritize early submissions. Each internship project is assigned to a university recruiter who will review your qualifications. You may be considered for other roles that you didn t directly apply for.
