Job Description:Control Room Optimization Engineer/Analyst internship position will work on projects and initiatives under the supervision of the Control Room Optimization staff. As part of the team, the intern will develop an understanding for the optimizing processes and develop methods, tools, and documentation to support the control room performance improvements. The intern will assist Operations and Engineering Departments with day to day technical support. Must be able to develop, follow and implement standards and procedures as part of daily activities. A commitment to safety and environment is required, the intern will participate in group safety meetings and presentations. The intern will also support pipeline cost optimization and leak detection with statistical analysis and review of technical information in support of cost optimization and leak detection. The intern will work with external departments in pipeline hydraulics and leak detection modeling to identify and support the implementation of improvements on our current operational costs and leak detection systems, as well as document findings.Essential Duties and Skills:◦Excellent working knowledge of computer programs (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook) ◦Support pipeline Control Center Operations in data analysis during various operations◦Perform time studies and update time standards to improve workload analysis◦Strong technical writing skills to plan, develop, organize, write and edit operational manuals and procedures.◦Work with and support scheduling to conduct What-If analysis on various scheduling scenarios to determine optimal line utilization strategies.◦Eagerness to learn and accept challenges◦Able to handle multiple tasks◦Good communication skills◦Research, develop and document Control Room training scenarios ◦Produce electronic documentation in addition to hard copy manuals ◦Maintain a comprehensive library of technical terminology and documentation ◦Analyze documents to maintain continuity of style and contentRequirements:
Candidate must be working towards a bachelor's or master's degree in engineering, physics or accounting with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Must have excellent verbal/written/interpersonal communication skills, strong PC skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office products. Must have lawful unlimited authorization to work in the U.S. without sponsorship. Must be able to work 40 hours per week during the summer, beginning in May and ending in August. Some travel to local sites may be required.
