Essential Job Duties:
The English Department at North Carolina State University is seeking applicants for a position as an Assistant Professor of Technical Communication; applicants at the advanced assistant professor level may also be considered.
We seek candidates with a focus on workplace communication and research interests in technical communication management (e.g., project management, publication management), visual communication, and/or data visualization. The successful candidate will direct our internship program, which helps undergraduate and graduate students apply their communication skills in the workplace and develop contextual knowledge and organizational leadership while taking into consideration ethical and civic concerns.
A person with the above scholarly interests will also be an important contributor to the doctoral program in Communication, Rhetoric, and Digital Media (CRDM), the MS program in Technical Communication (MSTC), and the English BA (Language, Writing and Rhetoric concentration). Requires doctor’s degree, an equivalent degree, or equivalent professional experience.
Evidence of excellence in teaching.
Good written and oral communication skills.
Research and/or teaching interests related to workplace communication, technical communication management, and distributed knowledge work.
Industry experience is preferred.
Candidates will have an active and productive research agenda.
