JOB REQUIREMENTS: Determine and formulate policies and provide overall direction of companies or private and public sector organizations within guidelines set up by a board of directors or similar governing body. Plan, direct, or coordinate operational activities at the highest level of management with the help of subordinate executives and staff managers. JOB TITLE: Executive Director, Alliance on Mental Illness of Racine County (NAMI-Racine County) ACCOUNTABLE TO: Board of Directors BROAD SCOPE AND FUNCTIONS OF JOB: The Executive Director is responsible for all aspects of day-to-day operation and management of the agency, under the guidance and direction of the Board of Directors. The Executive Director of NAMI-Racine County will oversee all of the current and future programs of NAMI-Racine County and its volunteers and staff, while maintaining the integrity and high standards of community involvement. The Executive Director will provide leadership toward the goals and objectives of the organization. The Executive Director will serve as spokesperson for the organization, articulating the vision and mission of the organization. Administrative and fiscal oversight will be required. Fundraising experience is necessary. Hands-on work is frequently required at all levels of the job. Participation at community and advocacy events is expected. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Administration: 1.Recruit, evaluate and supervise a high-quality, mission-driven staff. 2.Oversee the recruitment and supervision of volunteers and staff. 3.Maintain, implement and coordinate a communication system that facilitates a clear understanding of processes and policies for employees and volunteers. 4.Implement Board approved personnel policies. 5.Build and maintain internship and volunteer positions to assist with the expansion of the mission. 6.Develop, establish and maintain strong relationships with colleagues at NAMI Wisconsin and other state NAMI organizations. 7.Develop strategic partnerships with appropriate organizations and people to support persons living with mental illness. Board Duties: 1.Assist with recruitment of new board members and with overall board development. 2.Work with the Board and Board Committees to develop plans, policies, programs, and community outreach events. Develop Board Meeting Agenda in collaboration with the Board President to regularly inform the Board of activities related to the Strategic Plan. Fundraising and Financial Oversight: 1.Work with the Board to develop priorities for grant funding focus. 2.Develop and maintain relationships with grant funding organizations, foundations, corporations and individuals. 3.Oversee the preparation and submission of grant applications. 4.Work with the Board Treasurer and Finance Committee to ensure that financial duties are completed in a timely manner and within budgetary guidelines. 5.Oversee all fundraising initiative and implement fundraising strategies to meet the established goals as set by the Board. Program Development: 1.Ensure quality programs in the area of family education, peer support, and community outreach. 2.Oversee the development and coordination of additional programs and services that support the mission of NAMI-Racine County. 3.Build a strong volunteer, member and donor base and facilitate further training and utilization of volunteers. Make capacity-building an organizational priority. Communication and Outreach: 1.Establish and maintain the NAMI-Racine County state charter. 2.Network with community and other organizations through public speaking, media presentations, etc. to address and solve issues related to the delivery of mental health services in Racine County. 3.Represent NAMI-Racine County at State and national conferences as determined and approved by the Board. 4.Oversee the effectiveness of communications and social media efforts. 5.Other duties, as required, to support NAMI. ***** OTHER EXPERIEN CE AND QUALIFICATIONS: Skills and knowledge: Excellent oral and written communication skills; Outstanding interpersonal skills; Applied knowledge of fund development strategies and ability to work collaboratively with community partners, corporations, foundations, boards, major donors and other volunteers; Understanding of nonprofits and volunteer supervision; Proficiency with computers and software. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree from an accredited university; Knowledge of mental illness and its impact on the individual, the family, and the community; passion for the organization's mission.
