Development Intern

Family Services is seeking an intern to support our Development team. The ideal candidate will directly assist the Development team with a wide range of projects related to fundraising, including the major gifts program, annual fund, planned giving and special events. This internship is designed to be both educational and practical. In this position, the intern will learn how to take skills (s)he may have acquired in school related to his or her particular areas of interest, and apply them in a professional setting. (S)he will be better prepared to work in the arenas of fundraising and development, as well as the non-profit sector. The intern will also have opportunities to network with staff of other departments of the organization.

Internship Details:

  • Spring 2019 program: January through Mid-May

  • Report to: Development Director

  • Hours per Week and Duration: Minimum commitment of 14 hours per week

  • Unpaid Internship

The Development intern will develop skills regarding:

  • Non-profit fundraising

  • Marketing

  • Event preparation and management

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • 18 years of age or older.

  • Current or recent enrollment in a graduate or undergraduate degree program.

  • Good written and verbal skills.

  • Strong ability and willingness to interact with others in the agency and the community.

  • Outgoing and socially comfortable.

Essential Duties, Responsibilities, and Potential Projects:

  • Assist in the preparation and management of fundraising events, including Report to the Community, Family of the Year, and Walk a Mile in Her Shoes.

  • Develop and maintain the organization’s social media presence and other marketing content.

  • Clerical duties.

  • Engage in communication with other organization departments.
