The Clinical Dietitian is responsible for the nutrition screening, assessment, monitoring, evaluation, and education of MMCI patients through an integrated approach to nutrition care.
PROVIDES COMPREHENSIVE NUTRITION CARE OF PATIENTS ACCORDING TO POLICIES & PROCEDURES
Responsible for screening completions 100% per policy
Meets charting guidelines 100% of the time determined by chart audits
Provides quality advanced nutrition support as appropriate on patient care units
Participates in the review of the Patient Satisfaction Data and contributes to the development of the action plan and implementation of the plan
ACTIVELY PROVIDES NUTRITION SUPPORT THROUGH ASSESSMENT, DEVELOPMENT OF A NUTRITION CARE PLAN, IMPLEMENTATION OF NUTRITION CARE PLAN, AND MONITORING OF NUTRITION THERAPY
Works with other Nutritio Support Team members to provide nutrition therapy in a timely manner, including weekends
Participates and presents in rounds, education seminars, Journal Club, team meetings, etc. to gain knowledge in Nutrition Support as evidenced in personal portfolio
PROVIDES NUTRITION EDUCATION TO PATIENTS, FAMILIES, COMMUNITY EVENTS, STAFF GROUPS, MEDIA, DIETETIC STUDENTS AND INTERNS etc.
Develop and utilize a variety of processes to determine patient education needs, ie consults, assessments, diet orders, communication with other staff, care paths, etc.
Work cooperatively with Dietetic Techs in determining and providing patients' education needs
Assists with inservices for Diet Techs regarding diets
Presents to individual patients as well as large groups and media, evidenced through personal report portfolio (1 major and/or 3 minor presentations per year)
Provides nutrition education to patients, family members, staff, and community groups
Develop and review current education materials used, responsible for at least 4 handouts
Assists in review and/or revision of Diet Manual
Participates in the training of the Dietetic Students and Dietetic Interns. Plans their curriculum, gives pertinent assignments, corrects and reviews assignments with interns
Participates in intern Case Study Presentations, taking turn in being a preceptor
Assists in doing intern's midterm and final review
PROVIDES NUTRITION CARE OF PATIENTS ACCORDING TO REGULATORY BODIES SUCH AS JCAHO, IDPH, CARF, ETC. AND CURRENT TRENDS AND KNOWLEDGE ACQUIRED ANNUALLY
Knowledge of regulations
Ability to analyze performance compared to regulations and offers ways to better, efficiently comply to provide optimum nutrition care
Fulfills MMCI and department mandatory education requirements of at least 12 hours of MMCI education, evidenced by MMCI education report
Fulfills ADA education requirements and maintains report portfolio with education receipts for IDPH or CDR audit
Bachelor's Degree in the field(s) of dietitics or related field Required
1-3 years of experience in/with Health care and/or food service, previous experience as a Clinical Dietitian, and Community and media experience Preferred.
License and Certification
Licensed in Illinois as Dietitian/Nutritionist.
Additional Information: Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) Approved Internship or Pathway to Registration.
Registered by CDR.
