Summary:

The Clinical Dietitian is responsible for the nutrition screening, assessment, monitoring, evaluation, and education of MMCI patients through an integrated approach to nutrition care.

  • PROVIDES COMPREHENSIVE NUTRITION CARE OF PATIENTS ACCORDING TO POLICIES & PROCEDURES

  • Responsible for screening completions 100% per policy

  • Meets charting guidelines 100% of the time determined by chart audits

  • Provides quality advanced nutrition support as appropriate on patient care units

  • Participates in the review of the Patient Satisfaction Data and contributes to the development of the action plan and implementation of the plan

  • ACTIVELY PROVIDES NUTRITION SUPPORT THROUGH ASSESSMENT, DEVELOPMENT OF A NUTRITION CARE PLAN, IMPLEMENTATION OF NUTRITION CARE PLAN, AND MONITORING OF NUTRITION THERAPY

  • Works with other Nutritio Support Team members to provide nutrition therapy in a timely manner, including weekends

  • Participates and presents in rounds, education seminars, Journal Club, team meetings, etc. to gain knowledge in Nutrition Support as evidenced in personal portfolio

  • PROVIDES NUTRITION EDUCATION TO PATIENTS, FAMILIES, COMMUNITY EVENTS, STAFF GROUPS, MEDIA, DIETETIC STUDENTS AND INTERNS etc.

  • Develop and utilize a variety of processes to determine patient education needs, ie consults, assessments, diet orders, communication with other staff, care paths, etc.

  • Work cooperatively with Dietetic Techs in determining and providing patients' education needs

  • Assists with inservices for Diet Techs regarding diets

  • Presents to individual patients as well as large groups and media, evidenced through personal report portfolio (1 major and/or 3 minor presentations per year)

  • Provides nutrition education to patients, family members, staff, and community groups

  • Develop and review current education materials used, responsible for at least 4 handouts

  • Assists in review and/or revision of Diet Manual

  • Participates in the training of the Dietetic Students and Dietetic Interns. Plans their curriculum, gives pertinent assignments, corrects and reviews assignments with interns

  • Participates in intern Case Study Presentations, taking turn in being a preceptor

  • Assists in doing intern's midterm and final review

  • PROVIDES NUTRITION CARE OF PATIENTS ACCORDING TO REGULATORY BODIES SUCH AS JCAHO, IDPH, CARF, ETC. AND CURRENT TRENDS AND KNOWLEDGE ACQUIRED ANNUALLY

  • Knowledge of regulations

  • Ability to analyze performance compared to regulations and offers ways to better, efficiently comply to provide optimum nutrition care

  • Fulfills MMCI and department mandatory education requirements of at least 12 hours of MMCI education, evidenced by MMCI education report

  • Fulfills ADA education requirements and maintains report portfolio with education receipts for IDPH or CDR audit

  • Education

  • Bachelor's Degree in the field(s) of dietitics or related field Required

  • Work Experience

  • 1-3 years of experience in/with Health care and/or food service, previous experience as a Clinical Dietitian, and Community and media experience Preferred.

  • License and Certification

  • Licensed in Illinois as Dietitian/Nutritionist.

  • Additional Information: Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) Approved Internship or Pathway to Registration.

  • Registered by CDR.
