Global Marketing and Communications (GMC) is the central marketing and communications function of BlackRock. GMC is dedicated to providing powerful marketing and communications campaigns and solutions guided by business priorities for our Retail, Institutional and iShares businesses. GMC partners with Client Businesses, Investment teams and Strategic Product Management to set and deliver relevant and impactful marketing strategies appropriate for each market and client channel.
The Head of Marketing for France, alongside the local marketing team sets the strategic direction for the marketing strategy and plans across various product lines and client channels in France, working closely with the regional Business Head, sales teams and marketing partners. It is the responsibility of this team to develop and effectively implement local brand, capability and product campaigns and use robust metrics to measure the return on investment and to inform and evolve future activity.
The team, currently based in Paris is responsible for all marketing and communications activities within France, covering all business channels (Retail, Institutional and iShares). This involves working closely with the heads of the different business channels and their sales teams based in our local office. The following areas are covered:
1. Strategy & Brand
Developing the Marketing strategy aligned with the local Business strategy as well as managing the local Brand identity for BlackRock and iShares in line with the global Brand strategy. For institutional this strategy is aligned to central investment themes. The team implements the marketing mix across multiple distribution and communications channels in France.
2. Client Marketing & Client Communications
Develop and implement a marketing mix across distribution channels and key client segments such as Banks, Private Banks, Insurance Companies, Financial Advisers, Discretionary Wealth Managers and end investors. Client Communication covers all local online and offline communication activities, including websites, print and online newsletters, regular market updates, collateral and bespoke, co-marketing programs.
3. Event Marketing
The local marketing event programme includes sponsored events, partnership events, industry fairs, seminars as well as BlackRock’s proprietary event activity. Content will be aligned to the overall marketing themes with local adaptation as relevant. The team carries overall responsibility for defining the local event strategy and takes ownership for the successful delivery of all events in the region, including event logistics and organisation, and will liaise with the central Events Team as applicable for larger events.
The local Marketing team works closely with the regional EMEA Marketing teams and the centralised Marketing functions (digital, brand and advertising, direct marketing, events and creative services), all located in London, UK.
This internship is based out of the Paris office for the duration of 6 months.
To work closely with the Marketing Manager for France, the local Marketing team, internal stakeholders (events team, Compliance, Digital team etc) and local external agencies to help deliver impactful marketing and communications programmes (especially events and digital activities) for the French business.
Implement the marketing and communications programme to effectively target key segments, including the coordination and execution of activities across the full range of marketing disciplines - direct marketing, events, emails, newsletters, literature and coordinating with the PR team
Execute the event strategy for France including the logistics and organisation during the preparation of the events (invitations, client lists, preparation of badges, giveaways, event collateral…) at the event (assist on site) and after the event (email follow-up, reporting and metrics of the event)
Update and clean-up of French CRM system working closely with the FR sales support team to help deliver segmented and tailored client communications
Execute marketing programme through the use of innovative digital tactics (search, re-targeting, social media)
Adapt marketing campaigns and collateral developed by the central London marketing teams so they are relevant in the local market (including translation and local copy changes), working closely with a number of stakeholders and agencies – translation agencies, compliance, digital, creative services …
Manage content proactively and regularly in local language of local websites in line with International retail, iShares and institutional web strategy & messaging
Interaction with senior stakeholders within the business, agency partners and compliance to manage projects from end-to-end
As necessary, support the team in other areas including preparation of strategic plans, internal presentations, metrics, reporting of French Marketing activities
Skills and Experience
Good understanding of marketing principles across all disciplines e.g. web, direct marketing, collateral, events, content and digital, with a specific focus on delivering highly impactful events and digital activities
Project management skills, including an ability to move projects forward in a complex environment and integrate input from multiple stakeholders while maintaining project schedules
Highly motivated, hardworking, tenacious, rigorous and able to work effectively in a team environment – adaptable, reliable with a strong ‘can do attitude’
Able to operate in a fast-paced environment with flexibility in regards to changes in strategy and project plan
Degree in business, marketing or other related field essential
Proven experience in event management or digital activities a plus
Essential: Fluency in French and English (both written and spoken)
Clear and strong communication skills plus excellent interpersonal skills
Solid understanding of the Financial services industry
Strong sense of ownership and responsibility
Able to prioritise, meet deadlines, and manage expectations
