Job Role and Responsibilities:

VMware offers Marketing Co-Ops an opportunity to be part of an exciting and innovative team, within a variety of different marketing functions. There will be 10 unique positions in various marketing business units. As a Marketing Co-Op, you will be assigned to a specific team within the marketing organization that will best fit your interest/skills. You may support multiple organizations within marketing and will receive a well-rounded, global marketing experience. Depending on the critical priorities relevant at the time, your role could include the following activities:

Project Management

Project management support and participation in brand strategy, research and marketing programs. This could include building schedules and creating program deliverables, guidelines and plans in support of brand integration and launch activities. This requires analytical skills to collect and report metrics and identify trends, issues, or other relevant information (qualitative and quantitative).

Communications

Developing communications activities around product launches, corporate announcements, and industry events. This might include media relations, responding to requests for information, or working on press releases, campaigns, and influencer briefings.

Social Media

Social media evangelism as well as content production and publication. You might engage with teams internally or externally to develop content and educate others in the use of social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, BlogSpot, etc.).

Strategy

Strategy development for emerging solutions, including campaign production, web development and communications strategy. Influencing go-to-market and product road map plans and informing customer and influencer-facing presentations.

Demand Generation

Demand generation through various programs including online media, events, social media, and email. You might track programs from briefing the agency to reporting on pipeline. It may also include event planning and execution. You will work across geographies and with agencies and marketing operations.If you have a strong interest in technology and enterprise software and are interested in a career in Marketing, this intern position provides experience across a broad array of marketing disciplines.

Required Skills:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Marketing or related field

  • Previous co-op experience

  • Proven success working and adapting in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities

  • Strong analytical, project management and problem-solving skills

  • Excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills

  • Self-starter, team player, information seeker, takes ownership

  • Demonstrated success in project management

Preferred Skills:

  • Ability working with cross functional teams

  • Effective presentation skills

  • Fascination with information technology and its use in business

  • Technical knowledge or knowledge of VMware products
