Inventory Specialist

Your tasks and responsibilities

The Inventory Specialist is responsible to fulfill the commercial needs of various regions in terms of supply availability and timely visibility. This role you will be responsible for the coordinating efforts with our Integrated Business Planning (IBP) initiative. You will ultimately oversee inventory levels along with quality features for the corresponding regions supported to secure a heightened level of service to our customers. Conducting monthly regional based inventory analysis and mitigating supply risk through effective communication and reporting will also be a part of your responsibilities.

The primary responsibilities of this role, Inventory Specialist, are to:

  • Execute cyclical monthly processes for Supply Gap closing to include commercial acceptance of non-conforming seed, Batch Trading (Regional & Global) and balance of inventories processes;

  • Providing input on plant scheduling and prioritization of incoming crops;

  • Actively drive seed availability to meet market requirement and execute IBP agreement;

  • Responsible to drive accurate LOF through continuous alignment of supply with demand;

  • Works within the system and processes to ensure timely updates, facilitate "perfect" customer orders, and accurate reporting;

  • Responsible for timely and accurate availability information to key stakeholders;

  • Identify inventory trends and requirements to drive continuous improvement;

  • Maintain inventories in accordance with Product Specs and QA guideline;

  • Review and management of daily quality report to ensure all seed quality meets or exceeds regional standards;

  • Drive obsolescence visibility and mitigate risk through monthly review cycles;

  • In charge of providing accurate supply information as part of the IBP process and take ownership in investigating potential shortages and initiate actions to meet supply goals;

  • Analyze sales forecasts in terms of variety, quantity, product form and quality in accordance with established protocol from a quality and regulatory perspective to determine supply;

  • Lead key exchanges and meetings with other functions to ensure meeting goals are achieved through influencing the teams and addressing all actions associated to supply requirements;

  • Be accountable and own compliance with company policies and customer satisfaction regarding Inventory;

  • Establish a strong working relationship with colleagues in Manufacturing to support the distribution strategy, minimize risk of obsolescence and maximize efficiency of supply;

  • Anticipate supply risks to meet the financial commitments and identify needs in systems/ tools, training and communication to grant a flawless supply planning process.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree;

  • 2+ years of experience in an office/corporate environment;

  • Knowledge of supply chain planning processes & systems;

  • Excellent analytical skills and experience with quantitative analysis;

  • Proficient in Microsoft programs such as Excel, Power Point and Word;

  • SAP knowledge or similar ERPs;

  • Ability to work effectively in a global, team-based and matrix environment,

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, supply chain or related field;

  • 2+ years of related experience in the Seed business or Logistics/Operations
