Innovation Center – Design & Marketing Intern

Taylor Corporation is seeking an entry-level Design and Marketing intern to join the Taylor Corporation Innovation Center team! We are looking for an innovative, resourceful, energetic, and talented individual who is ready to take the next step towards a career. This person should be well-rounded in graphic design and marketing communications as well as being up for the challenge of taking on a wide variety of projects and initiatives.

The chosen candidate will work in close collaboration with the Innovation Center Manager, Taylor Digital Director of Marketing, and a team of other interns. As a Design and Marketing intern, you will help develop engaging visual and written content used in the production of marketing and sales promotional materials, conduct independent research on customer motivations and market trends, and provide recommendations on brand positioning. This is a paid, real-world learning experience that will help set you on a bright career path with the potential for full-time placement within one of our companies.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Shift Available

  • Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm

  • Maximum of 30 hours per week, flexible schedule

Responsibilities Include

This internship position will involve a range of creative and marketing facets and will require excellent attention to detail, the ability to manage multiple tasks on tight deadlines, and strong communication skills.

  • Work with marketing, sales, and creative departments to support the creation and evolution of digital and print marketing materials for an emerging technology company

  • Collaborate with executives and company leadership to establish brand identity, communication planning, and marketing opportunities for corporate and company initiatives

  • Ensure design consistency such as the appropriate usage of color, composition, perspective, and layout to maintain consistency across multiple brands and channels (e.g. social media posts, email, blog posts, newsletter, web, presentations, videos, and print materials)

  • Investigate and understand consumer motivations using surveys, market research, and competitor analysis

  • Proof and edit the work of others, as well as your own, to ensure consistency in style and tone

  • Work both individually and in groups to produce defined project deliverables on tight deadlines

  • Effectively communicate conceptual ideas, research findings, and marketing rationale to clients, leadership, and peers, in a verbal, visual, and written format

Minimum Qualifications

  • Pursuing or recently attained a degree in Graphic Design, Mass Media, Marketing, Advertising, Public Relations, Communications, or other related disciplines

  • Able to provide work samples that demonstrate creative design and marketing experience

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel, Publisher), Adobe (e.g. Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Premiere, After Effects, InDesign); Google Documents, WordPress, and Skype

  • Experience designing and creating social media content for a brand is ideal

  • Able to think critically and creatively while not being afraid to go outside their comfort zone

  • Excellent written and verbal skills and enjoys problem-solving

  • Must be highly collaborative and open to constructive feedback from peers and clients

  • Exhibit a positive attitude, skill, and innovative spirit for problem solving and taking on challenges

  • Demonstrate the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment, and manage several projects at one time

  • Able to work between 12-30 hours a week during the school year and up to 30 hours a week during breaks and office out of our North Mankato, MN office starting in September 2018

  • Interest or experience in project management, social media, analytics, video production, or web development is a big plus, but not necessary for employment
