Macmillan Learning is currently offering a paid internship opportunity for summer 2018. Interns will be provided with the opportunity to participate in work related assignments, gain practical work experience, and network with employees from various departments.
Overall, the intern will become familiar with the basic structure of a publishing house and the role of each department within. The Macmillan Learning Internship Program is available for students currently enrolled in a college or university or recent 2018
Purpose of the Role:
Macmillan Learning is looking to hire an intern to work with the Economics Editorial team. This is a paid internship that would be approximately 30 hours a week. The Economics Editorial intern reports to the Publisher. This position works with the Editorial
and Media team to assist in development and production of textbooks and technology products for higher education students studying economics. Potential candidates should have strong writing and research skills, be organized and detail oriented. The position
will expose the intern to working in editorial with authors, instructors, sales and marketing. Interns will learn about the higher education publishing industry and economics.
Responsibilities would include, but not be limited to, the following tasks:
• Preparing manuscripts for texts, supplements, and media for production
• Conducting market research on select titles and media products
• Creating leads lists for review projects
• Assisting in special projects
• Administrative support to department
The candidate should be highly motivated, organized, ambitious, diligent, problem-solving, and able to thrive independently.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and Excel; Google Drive; Salesforce.com.
• Economics major/minor or coursework a plus.
• Publishing experience, also a plus.
