The Hearst Corporation Editorial Assistant, GoodHousekeeping.com in New York, New York

Working directly with the editorial team managing one of Hearst Magazines largest lifestyle sites, GoodHousekeeping.com, the editorial assistant writes and produces content across all the sites key beats, oversees and execute SEO-related updates, manages all print related production demands, organizes and executes all recipe and Test Kitchen-related content monthly, and manages various editorial administrative tasks.

Key Responsibilities

Pitches and writes 1-2 newsy original pieces daily, including slideshows, articles, listicles, infographics and more with a day-of turnaround

Creates or updates 2-3 service and evergreen galleries daily, with direction from senior editors

Assist with building monthly print stories for Good Housekeeping, Country Living, Redbook and Womans Day, downloading and optimizing print images, tracking the publishing schedule and priority print commitments with guidance from the site directors

Organizes and executes all food and recipe content coming from the Test Kitchen, including producing 60 new original recipes from Good Housekeeping, Country Living and Womans Day each month

Assist other web editors with key editorial production tasks, including building stories, syndicating content, sourcing and optimizing images, research and fact-checking

Handles all contract generation and invoicing tracking, filing and submissions for Lifestyle & Design Group of sites

Attend and cover press previews and other industry events as relevant

Desired Skills and Experience

Previous experience writing lifestyles-related content, either in an internship or in a freelance or full-time position, at a daily website

A sense of humor and a clear, creative, and technically spotless writing style

Internet and social media obsessive

Familiarity with popular womens interest magazines, websites, blogs and more

Knowledge of SEO best practices

Previous experience with a content management system and social scheduling tools and tactics
