Who we are looking for
The Assistant Director of Technology, Data & Media is responsible for supporting the overall integrity and administrative functioning of the Summer Principals Academy (SPA). This entails continuous communication with the Director and Assistant Director of the Summer Principals Academy, as well as involvement in technology, blended learning, and alumni development. The successful candidate will be familiar with Twitter, LinkedIn, Pubblebot and other technology applications that can support the mission of SPA.
Responsibilities include the following:
Consult and collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to enrich teaching, learning, and scholarship through the effective use of established and emerging technologies.
Support students in conceptualizing a plan to implement emerging technology at the school level Introduces and supports students in developing proficiency with common technology tools.
Provides faculty & students with options for developing technology-oriented professional development for teachers and open houses for parents.
Creates and manages course websites, complete with syllabi & readings.
Prepares and leads technology session for faculty & instructional assistants.
Develops a technology certification curriculum that is delivered to students over a 14-month period.
Provides faculty with training on accessing students' electronic portfolios.
Creates and regularly updates social media accounts for SPA Works with CMS to edit & maintain SPA's website.
Conducts continuous research in web-based academic & instructional technologies.
Researches and analyzes hybrid and online program exemplars.
Evaluates the effectiveness of various of web tools, computer programs, and learning management systems.
Designs and develops instructional pieces for incorporation into classroom, hybrid, and fully online courses.
Develops a multi-phase plan for building capacity for program faculty to begin experimenting with blended instructional models.
Works collaboratively with SPA team to develop a series of multi-media case studies.
Collaborates with Associate Director to complete the NYSED application for SDL for current SPA students.
Provides support for necessary application revisions & edits as required by NYSED.
Work collaboratively with the Associate Director to develop a sequence of courses that meets NYSED requirements.
Proposes a scaffolded program that will allow for the gradual incorporation of hybrid instruction.
Supports the launch of the SDL extension for current students & alumni.
Conducts targeted outreach to alumni to determine PD needs & interest Establishes relationships with alumni for the purposes of continuous professional development, networking for recruitment, and student placement.
Attends professional conferences in order to develop a working knowledge of program logistics.
Coordinates with Associate Director to develop a plan for launching a practitioner conference.
Develops an online portal for proposal submissions.
Creates a livestream option for alumni who are unable to attend the conference.
Develops a session to present emerging technology to alumni
Minimum of five years of full-time paid teaching experience in a public school;
Detail oriented, skilled multi-tasker with a team player approach;
Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines;
Proven ability to problem solve;
Sensitivity to confidentiality of student and faculty records;
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
Ability to work independently and seek feedback as necessary to ensure accuracy;
Ability to work in a Mac environment;
Strong customer service orientation;
Task-oriented with proven ability to obtain results and meet deadlines;
Flexibility surrounding work schedule, particularly during peak periods;
IT experience with web design, social media, Google Apps, blended learning,
Experience implementing emerging technology at the school level
Proficiency in Microsoft Office;
Willingness to travel.
A high level of participation, involvement, and support is required throughout all aspects of the Summer Institute. Please note that heavy travel is required at times.
Master's degree or advanced professional degree;
Strategic thinking and strategic data analysis abilities highly desirable;
Familiarity with SPA or similar principal preparation program;
Ability to manage complex relationships across multiple stakeholders.
