Disney Streaming Services is a business unit within The Walt Disney Company’s Direct-to-Consumer and International (DTCI) segment that oversees all consumer-facing digital video subscription services across the company. Disney Streaming is responsible for developing and operating The Walt Disney Company’s direct-to-consumer video businesses globally, including the ESPN+ premium sports streaming service, programmed in conjunction with ESPN; the upcoming Disney SVOD service; and BAMTECH Media, a global leader in direct-to-consumer video streaming products and solutions. Its core mission is to deliver global audiences the freedom to access content on their terms across any connected device, time or location.

Application Infrastructure is a team responsible for architecting, planning, and executing the deployment and operations of home grown applications and services for Disney Streaming Services. These services reside in a complex data center and network environment and must be efficient, secure, scalable, reliable and cost effective. This position will primarily support the systems used across the DSS platform portfolio partners, including MLB.TV, NHL.TV, WWE Network, Sony Playstation Vue, Eurosport, Fox Sports Go, among others.

Responsibilities :

  • Primary responsibilities include evaluation, implementation and support for products developed for Disney Streaming Services. This includes any applications, hardware configuration, custom software implementation, systems design, performance and availability monitoring, process improvement, and systems documentation.

  • Typical projects would include new business unit initiatives and updates to existing products and services that require planning, incredible attention to detail, communication to stakeholders, and flawless execution.

Basic Qualifications :

  • General knowledge of server hardware technologies and systems support – administration, configuration, troubleshooting, performance tuning, security, and general maintenance

  • Experience with Linux enterprise operating systems (primarily Centos / RHEL)

  • Knowledge of IP communication, packet structure, load balancing equipment, and troubleshooting

  • Systems knowledge, including familiarity with client server architectures and their physical components (servers, network devices, disk-subsystems and SAN)

  • Ability to participate with other functional teams in systems integration and design including writing operational specifications, test plans and requirements management with attention to detail

  • Critical thinking, problem resolution, team building, negotiation, and decision-making skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills

Required Education :

Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university and taking at least one class, or be a recent graduate of an accredited college or university within the last six (6) months at time of application, or be currently participating in the Disney College Program, Disney Culinary Program or Disney Professional Internship Program.

Internship Eligibility:

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within 6 months OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney

Professional Internship:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program.

  • Must possess unrestricted work authorization

  • Must provide full work availability during Program Length (listed below)

  • Must provide own transportation to/from work

  • Current Active Disney cast members must meet Professional Internship transfer guidelines (for Walt Disney World cast members this is no more than four points and one reprimand in the last six months; for Disneyland cast members this is six months of consecutive service and a performance record clear of any disciplinary issues (warnings, suspensions, etc.) for at least six months)

Program Length: The approximate dates of this internship are January 2019-March 2019

Ability to provide own relocation, housing and transportation. Position is located in New York.

Interns must be fully available for the duration of the internship.
