The School of General Studies of Columbia University, the finest liberal arts college in the United States for returning and nontraditional students, is seeking a talented and motivated professional to be part of the School's team.

Reporting to the Director of Alumni Relations, the Alumni Relations Coordinator supports the Alumni Relations team through the coordination of student and alumni programming for the School of General Studies, as well as through operational support across all team initiatives.

The Alumni Relations Coordinator will work closely with the Student Life Office to share goals and execute programming for student and alumni engagement. Responsibilities include but are not limited to, ensuring the successful planning and execution of New Student Orientation, Class Day, and Senior Fund. Additional programming may include professional panels, mentor programs, internship opportunities and affinity group events.

The incumbent assists with special projects and serves as a point of contact within the Alumni Affairs team for current students and alumni through phone and email correspondence and through the creation and delivery of social media content. Also responsible for database management, tracking event attendance, maintaining alumni contact information, and pulling reports as needed.

In partnership with the Student Life Office, oversee traditional events such as Class Day and New Student Orientation by participating in the planning, logistics, and alumni outreach and engagement.

Work alongside the Leadership Gift Officer to market and engage students around the senior class gift.

Collaborate with the Assistant Director of Alumni Relations on alumni-student programming, to build a base of student volunteers to transition into alumni leaders. Assist in identifying alumni for student programming needs.

Maintain event and program reporting, data collection and metric analysis for all alumni relations activity to support goals around the University campaign of ALMA (Alumni Lifetime Metrics Analysis) points. Ensure data integrity by accurately updating database with event attendance and alumni contact information. Develop systems to accurately and efficiently generate highly sensitive reports. Use reporting tools to identify trends, measure performance.

Oversee organizational needs required for special events, including: Maintaining and managing guest lists, vendor contracts and payments, email correspondences, and event collateral, including but not limited to, , signage and d├ęcor.

Assist with special projects and performs other duties as assigned or requested.

Minimum Qualifications for Grade

Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant

Bachelor's degree and/or equivalent related experience and a minimum of 2-4 years related experience required.

Strong event planning and organizational skills, and the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.

Strong oral and written communication skills required.

Understanding of working in a complex academic environment highly desirable. Excellent interpersonal skills, tact, and diplomacy, sensitivity and mature judgment are essential. Confidentiality and discretion are required. Must be professional, organized, creative and efficient and able to work successfully as part of a team.
