JOB SUMMARY:The Product Marketing Manager is responsible for positioning new products at launch for the best possible revenue potential and for driving and coordinating the development of strong marketing support for La-Z-Boy’s existing products across all mediums.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:• Responsible for leading the concept development, strategizing, planning, implementation and coordination of all product marketing initiatives. Facilitate development and help drive successful execution of overall marketing and consumer strategy.• Develop product positioning and key messaging for use across all marketing and sales communication platforms. Ensure product presentation and stories are consistent across all channels and are informed by a deep understanding of target consumer segment.• Lead the development and execution of new product introductions. Develop, in cooperation with merchandising and training/education, sales training tools and materials.• Play active role in organization’s strategic product innovation process and core innovation team by partnering with R&D and merchandising teams. Includes the preparation of a strategy and vision that articulates the consumer need and business cases for innovative product concepts.• Provide leadership and management for research activities involving target consumers, demographics, technology, competition, and advancements in fields related to home furnishings to gain insights that allow the creation of unique, compelling and sustainable solutions to latent or expressed needs and understand the business and/or consumer opportunity.• Monitor competitive product activity to identify potential consumer/market opportunities and/or pricing strategies. Ensure the marketing conclusions and recommendations for all research conducted are clearly communicated, bring research conclusions of studies directly to bear on product and/or marketing issues and opportunities. • Drive the development and utilization of customer insights related to product categories, which are understood and utilized across all levels and functions of the organization. Ensure marketing team is aligned to and capitalizing on category selling trends based upon unit sales and comp trends. SCOPE & IMPACT:Play critical role in identifying, evaluating and launching products with multi-million dollar budgets and tens of thousands of people-hours across broad cross-functional teams. Employee must be able to deliver complex insights across all levels of organization and work collaboratively to ensure successful business outcomes.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:• Bachelor’s’ degree in Marketing, Business or related field with 4 - 6 years of relevant experience, or equivalent.• 1-3 years of Supervisory/Leadership experience.• Up to 5% travel.• Deep understanding of the key elements of the effective management of product marketing and innovation with demonstrable experience in successful execution in these areas• Excellent oral and written communication skills• Flexibility to manage multiple concurrent projects• Ability to react quickly to take advantage of changing business conditions• Experience in a retail organization preferred• Experience managing non-reporting relationships cross-functionally• Consumer insight and strategy experience• Ability to plan strategically, as well as translate into implementation plan for organizationPREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:• MBASUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: NonePHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:Operates in a professional office environment, not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions.CORE ATTRIBUTES:Communicate TransparentlyLead the TeamImpact and InfluenceDeliver ResultsCoach and DevelopOTHER DUTIES: Please note this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties or responsibilities that are required of the incumbent for this job.
