Job Description

The Polaris Sales & Marketing Internship Program (SMIP) accelerates career development for current undergraduate sophomores and juniors who want to build a foundation of business knowledge and leadership skills. Our unique 12-week program is comprised of internship opportunities in Sales, Marketing, or Product functional assignments across all business lines. Exact placement is determined by interest and business need.

As a Sales & Marketing intern, you will be given impactful project-based assignments aligning with business objectives. You can expect to create value from the start and will be able to see your project through to completion as you wrap up the summer.

Our internships are designed to challenge and prepare you for your full time career. They will push you in the areas of: creative thinking, leadership, analysis, navigating ambiguity, communication, and time management. Some of the projects may encompass activities like: market opportunity & competitive analysis, Go-To-Market planning & execution, product launch, Dealer & Customer sentiment, profitability analysis for new businesses, pricing, photo shoots, promotions and events, or integrated marketing across all product lines to name a few.

During this internship you will have the support and resources you need to further develop your business and leadership skills while establishing relationships with Sales and Marketing leadership that will continue throughout a potential career with Polaris.

While you may collaborate on cross-functional teams in order to design, develop and implement various projects, you will be placed into a specific assignment based on interest and business need, in any of the following areas:

  • Retail Marketing: Sales Events, Training, In-Store, Local Advertising Strategy

  • Media Execution: Creative Development, Agency Management, Social Media, Digital Marketing

  • Marketing Communications: New Product Introduction, Marketing Collateral Creation, Asset Creation

  • Product Planning and Development: Product Development Process, Market Research

  • Sales and Distribution: Retail experience, distribution network, Sales Lean process

Job Locations:

Interns are typically placed in one of the following locations: Plymouth, MN; Medina, MN.

Full Time positions post-graduation can be placed in several other locations depending on business need so candidates must be geographically flexible and willing to relocate for future consideration into the full time development program.

Internship Details:

  • Internships are paid, 12-15 week opportunities during the summer

  • Polaris offers both financial housing assistance and relocation reimbursement to interns who qualify (based on mileage)

  • Day-to-day transportation is the intern’s responsibility

  • Summer interns from across the U.S. will attend Polaris’ Intern Training in Plymouth, MN as an opportunity to meet with leaders and other interns from across the company

  • Interns who demonstrate exceptional performance and a passion to learn may be offered an additional internship or a full-time position, depending on graduation date eligibility

Required Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Business with an emphasis in Sales, Marketing or other related degrees

  • Must be graduating between December 2019 and May/June 2021 for consideration

  • Minimum overall GPA of 3.0

  • Right to work in the U.S. that is not solely based on possession of a student visa or visa sponsored by a third-party

  • Ability to complete a 12-week internship (May/June – August 2019)

  • Demonstrated ability to work with individuals from diverse cultures and backgrounds

  • Proven strength in the following: analysis and creative problem solving, communication, interpersonal relationships, self-motivation, and leadership

  • The drive to actively contribute to both personal and company-wide goals through creative and innovative thinking

Preferred Qualifications:

Previous related internship/work experience in Sales or Marketing discipline
