JOB REQUIREMENTS: A Communications Intern will be assigned to one division. The specific responsibilities within each division will vary but basic responsibilities for all Communications Interns may include:Developing an understanding of the important role of communications in the rapidly evolving business landscape and financial services industry. Provide writing, researching, graphic design and editorial support. Additional responsibilities of each division are as follows: Public and Media Relations: Drive brand awareness and advance your research, interviewing, writing, networking and organizational skills in the fast-paced, deadline-oriented, relationship-based environment of the Communications team of Northwestern Mutual. Work with multiple Communications department team members to sharpen your editorial skills, write stories, news releases, media pitching and provide administrative support for various electronic and print media channels. Basic Function: Contribute to the development of external communications, which may include: Writing, researching, graphic design and editorial support for traditional media outreach and social media channels. Tracking, analyzing and reporting on team metrics. Fact checking, copy editing and proofing during the media production process. Supporting other home office and field channels, including audio/video centers. High degree of copy editing accuracy using the AP Stylebook. Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and ability to meet multiple deadlines. High attention to detail.
