Responsibilities

Stakeholder Engagement and Outreach

Assists in developing plans for near and long-term outreach efforts, public and stakeholder involvement, and other public engagement efforts.

Promotes awareness of the Wage and Hour investigative and enforcement mission, purpose, and objectives, with particular emphasis on Wage and Hour's responsibility to assure all workers receive the rights and benefits to which they are entitled under Federal statutes and regulations.

Develops strong relationships with such Stakeholders, and promotes coordinative efforts for the purpose of enhancing and strengthening investigative and enforcement initiatives.

Media/Communication

Assists in the development of the District Office messaging and media strategies as well as serving as a liaison with media sources including the Regional Office and Regional Office of Public Affairs (ROP A) pursuant to strategic initiatives and other significant activities.

Coordinates District Office communications which includes but is not limited to drafting weekly reports, submitting internal articles for Wage and Hour and DOL publications or on­line media and updating stakeholders of significant actions.

Stakeholder Directory

Assists in the design, development, distribution, and continually improvement of a comprehensive Directory of Stakeholders, on the basis of effective outreach activities.

Regularly seeks and encourages input from Regional and District Office staff about current and new stakeholders.

Investigation/Enforcement Planning

Works with Regional and District management, including the Regional Planning Review Officer and Regional Director of Enforcement, to identify opportunities for and to coordinate and implement the strategic utilization of stakeholder resources for all significant enforcement initiatives and actions.

Participates in extensive research and analyses of industries, strategies, major issues, program goals/objectives and work processes.

Participates, and as applicable facilitates District Office strategic planning including training.

Qualifications

Applicants must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, GS-09, in the Federal service; OR a PH.D or equivalent doctoral degree; OR 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, *OR *LLM. if related *OR *a combination of specialized experience and graduate level education that provided the specific knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of this position.

Specialized experience is experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled.

Examples of Specialized Experience include:

Communicating information regarding stakeholder outreach and public involvement principles on Wage and Hour policy and procedures; ensuring that the wage and hour statues, regulations, and policies are abided by, including investigations conducted to enforce Wage and Hour regulations; and interpreting and determining management techniques and skills sufficient to ensure an integrative approach to resolve problems regarding Wage and Hour policies and regulations.

Current students must have a grade-point average of 2.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale. Interns must maintain such grade point average throughout the duration of the internship.
