Position Overview: The Marketing Communications Coordinator actively plans, supports and executes marketing and communications activities to produce successful outcomes for events and the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum organization. The coordinator supports internal and external stakeholders by providing graphic design, photography, digital and visual content creation, copy writing, desktop publishing and media buying services. The coordinator develops an in-depth and working knowledge of upcoming event information, including dates, times, prices and other details. In conjunction with the sales team, the coordinator is instrumental in developing and implementing marketing initiatives to promote facility rental, food and beverage services, premium services and a positive public image for the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum.


  • Work with event clients to curate, modify or create visual content to support ticket sales and general public awareness of their event, within their established brand guidelines

  • Create and schedule digital content for LED marquee displays, reader boards, scoreboard displays, closed circuit television channels and other display monitors located throughout the complex

  • Design national trade magazine print ads, as well as, local and regional print ads to support facility rental, food and beverage and premium services

  • Develop and expand use of video in all marketing activities

  • Photograph spaces, events and other activities taking place to support marketing objectives

  • Curate, write and design a professionally printed newsletter, three times annually


  • Be the primary community and content manager for the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum’s social media plan, including but not limited to: Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, blog, YouTube, LinkedIn and other newly emerging platforms

  • Creatively develop and post timely content for social media platforms to support sales of event tickets, facility rental, catering, corporate partner opportunities and premium services


  • Prepare and distribute a weekly detailed calendar of events to media and external partners

  • Write and distribute press releases for major event announcements, facility and staff recognition to media and partners

  • Serve as a contact for media inquiries and escort media personnel on site (not sports tenants)

  • Maintain current information on the media distribution list for press releases and other announcements

  • Coordinate needs with facility departments for press conferences and other related media activities

  • Serve as an in-house advertising agency available to event promoters, negotiating favorable cash rates, trade deals and promotions to support event ticket sales


  • Maintain inventory of Memorial Coliseum marketing/identity collateral, such as, envelopes, letterhead, business cards, folders, stationary, rate sheets, etc.

  • Work major event days to provide marketing, social media and media relations support

  • Supervise interns and develop a successful and on-going internship program

  • Assist with occasional staffing of administrative office front desk

  • Participate in regularly scheduled operational meetings with ACWMC staff

  • All other duties as assigned by Aramark and ACWMC Senior Management


  • Bachelor's degree (BA) from four-year college or university in Marketing, Graphic Design, Communications, Journalism or other related field

  • Minimum of one year of experience in marketing, graphic design or communications required; or equivalent combination of related education and experience.

  • Must have the ability to successfully operate in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with multiple ongoing assignments, with unplanned diversions and interruptions from both internal and external stakeholders

  • Must possess and display uncommon attention to detail and eye for consistency in all projects, large or small

  • Requires an outgoing, articulate personality with well-developed communication skills and personal poise in pressure situations

  • Must be able to prioritize and carry out assignments effectively to exceed reasonable internal and external expectations

  • Must demonstrate the desire and skills to improve processes and seek efficiencies to increase output

  • Advanced graphic design skills

  • Photography experience and advanced skills would be very helpful

  • Ability to write clear, concise and grammatically correct copy for all forms of marketing communication

  • Proficiency of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel and PowerPoint, as well as, the Adobe Creative Suite, especially InDesign and Photoshop

  • Media buying experience, including television, radio, print and out-of-home would be helpful

  • The ability to effectively use signage control and facility management software programs - advanced computer proficiency and willingness to learn new systems is a must

  • A valid driver’s license, ownership or the use of a private vehicle for business use. (Any expenses incurred by the employee while performing the duties of this position are reimbursable under the policies and guidelines of the employer.)

  • Must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays as directed.
