The Strategic Philanthropy Intern is a valued member of the Disney Conservation Fund team and will be based in Orlando, Florida. This team is responsible for managing conservation funding, global relationships with environmental nonprofit organizations and third party advocates, synergizing and supporting a variety of related corporate initiatives, collaborating on various conservation programs across the segment in support of the Disney Conservation Fund, and identifying and partnering on initiatives to save wildlife, inspire action and protect the planet.

A Day in the Life…

As the Enterprise Social Responsibility Strategic Philanthropy Intern you will…

  • Support the coordination and planning of special events related to internal/external engagement connected to the DCF focus on saving wildlife, inspiring action and protecting the planet; includes cast recognition events and the conservation components of media events at Walt Disney World.

  • Support internal and external corporate communications objectives, with a particular focus on sourcing assets, supporting NGO engagement, developing content and posting updates through various platforms including websites, blogs, Google Earth and social media.

  • Execute Disney Conservation Fund fundraising and guest engagement strategies leveraging technology opportunities.

  • Assist with the administration of the Disney Conservation Fund (DCF) including research, data management, e-mail and mail correspondence, and applying metrics to evaluate the impact of program support.

  • Perform office duties including data entry, digitizing files, research, tracking promotional inventory, and answering phones.

Basic Qualifications :

What we are looking for…

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including interpersonal skills, and ability to work well independently and with teams

  • Demonstrated strong organization and time management skills to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines with superior attention to detail

  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Word

  • Knowledge of utilizing various social media platforms including Facebook, Twitter and YouTube

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Interest in corporate social responsibility and involvement in efforts related to the environment and conservation

  • Experience with graphic design and/or Adobe Photoshop, InDesign, and Microsoft Publisher, Microsoft SharePoint

  • Experience with event coordination and/or planning

  • Public speaking experience

  • Database management/tracking and Research skills

Required Education :

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university and taking at least one class, or be a recent graduate of an accredited college or university within the last six (6) months at time of application, or be currently participating in the Disney College Program, Disney Culinary Program or Disney Professional Internship Program

  • Currently earning or within six months of graduating with a degree in Business, Communications, Corporate Social Responsibility, Public Relations, Journalism, Environmental Public Policy, Conservation, or a closely related field.

Additional Information :

  • The approximate dates of this internship are June 2019 through January 2020

  • Candidate must be available to work full time hours (approximately 40 hours per week) for the duration of the internship.

  • Must be enrolled in a college/university taking at least one class in the semester/quarter (spring/fall) prior to participation in the internship program OR must have graduated from a college/university within the past six (6) months OR currently participating in a Disney College Program or Disney Professional Internship

  • Must be at least 18 years of age

  • Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program

  • Must possess unrestricted work authorization

  • Housing: A limited amount of housing is available on a first come, first served basis.

  • Transportation: Interns must have reliable transportation to get to and from work for the duration of their internship program.
