The Enterprise Technology Digital Media Agency helps the Walt Disney Company segments and business units build, maintain, and operate digital media properties by partnering in all phases of development (strategy through launch and operations). Responsibilities :

A Day In the Life...

The Domain Name Management intern will provide support for activities across all of Disney's brands (including ABC, ESPN, Marvel, Pixar, and Lucasfilm) by:

  • Keeping project status and reporting activities up to date

  • Assisting with research projects related to new products and advertising campaigns

  • Attending meetings with stakeholders across many different business segments, assisting with note taking and reporting results

  • Participating in discussion regarding domain name management strategy

  • Reviewing domain name monitoring data, and providing suggestions for followup

  • Providing assistance to domain name points of contact in other business segments regarding fulfilling requests, access to vendor tools, etc.

  • Creating and maintaining documentation of domain name management policies and procedures

  • Establishing and maintaining positive relationships with internal and external teams and work collaboratively with colleagues, internal and external partners

  • As skills and opportunities develop, the intern will be given responsibility for their own projects

Basic Qualifications :

  • Basic understanding of the domain name industry and the purpose/uses of domain names

  • Understanding of the Domain Name System (DNS), both client and server

  • Interpersonal, analytical, problem solving, and negotiating skills

  • Ability to effectively communicate technical topics

  • Must be able to adapt to rapidly shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment

  • Keen eye for details including ability to discern one-character differences in data/reports

  • Ability to organize tasks/priorities and manage time effectively

  • Comfortable learning and using a variety of processes and technical tools to get things done

  • Ability to effectively complete occasional monotonous and/or repetitive tasks

  • Writing documentation for procedures

Preferred Qualifications :

  • Project management skills, including a variety of different methodologies

  • Business analysis skills

  • Understanding/Experience with the domain name business, including registrars, registries, gTLDs (new and old), and ccTLDs

  • Experience with transferring domain names

  • Understanding of the whois protocol, and how to use it to gather domain name registration data

  • Understanding of HTML, basic web design concepts, and 301/302 redirects

  • Experience using and maintaining open-source and/or bespoke software

  • Writing documentation for policies

  • Familiarity with Service Now, Confluence, Jira, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel

  • Understanding/Experience with SSL/TLS certificates, including CSRs, and validations

  • Experience with Unix command line tools, such as grep, diff, sed, etc.

Required Education :

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university and taking at least one class, or be a recent graduate of an accredited college or university within the last six (6) months at time of application, or be currently participating in the Disney College Program, Disney Culinary Program or Disney Professional Internship Program

Preferred Education :

  • Junior or Senior of Computer Science degree, or equivalent achieved or in progress

Additional Information :

  • The approximate dates of this internship are September 2018 through December 2018

  • Candidate must be available to work part time/full time hours (approximately 40 hours per week) for the duration of the internship

  • Able to provide own housing and transportation in the Burbank/Los Angeles area

  • Must not have completed one year of continual employment on a Disney internship or program

  • Must possess unrestricted work authorization

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
