Job Title: Intern – Innovation into Action 2018

Duration: On/around October 15 to December 31, 2018

Schedule and Level of Effort:

Up to 30 hours a week, in DAI’s Bethesda, MD office.


The Innovation into Action Challenge is designed to provide innovative start-ups with the chance to compete for funding, mentoring and business development support to put their business or product idea into practice.

Following the great success of the 2016 Innovation into Action Challenge, DAI is launching a new Challenge this fall. This year we are targeting emerging companies, locally and globally, that are ready to expand into new markets, and startup entrepreneurs with early stage ideas who need help assessing proofs of concept and developing market. Our four target sectors are elder care, food security, talent development, and blockchain.

During the internship, the Intern will assist the VP, Partnerships, on DAI’s planning and execution of the 2018 Innovation into Action programming.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Under the guidance of the Vice President, Partnerships, help research and catalogue information on the challenge in general, and the four technical areas: elder care, blockchain, food security, talent development.
  • With oversight from the supervisor, help write and revise content that can be used in multiple ways – e.g. website content, leave-behind marketing collateral, fliers, etc.
  • With direction and guidance from the VP, Partnerships, help prep DAI staff and take part in meetings with critical stakeholders, and potential funders.
  • Coordinate logistics for planning meetings, both internal and external.
  • Attend and provide meeting notes for development-related events in the Washington, D.C. area.
  • Undertake related research as necessary.
  • Handle other related tasks as required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Recent graduate, or Senior enrolled as a full or part-time student, majoring in Business, Marketing, or Entrepreneurship.
  • Strong writing skills to create and edit written documents and presentations
  • Experience with social media management - Twitter, Facebook, and Google
