They may also contribute to our multimedia projects. In so doing, they will build a large writing portfolio. Qualifications and Essential Job Functions0-2 years of published writing experience.Recent graduates of a science-writing or journalism program or recent undergraduates with a degree in science, English, journalism, communications or relevant discipline. Ability to research, interview, write and edit science news stories and other nontechnical science communication materials. Interest in science and science-writing and an enthusiasm for learning about new subjects with respect to the scientific world.Excellent writing and organization skills.Excellent interpersonal skills for effective interaction with scientists, the public and the media.Ability to work well under pressure, meet regular deadlines and juggle multiple projects simultaneously, as the Office of Communication is a fast-paced environment.Ability to operate a digital camera.Skill in the use of computers and standard software as well as the ability to navigate and use the internet.Experience with social media (Facebook, Flickr, Twitter, YouTube) is a plus.Relocation is not available for this position.Physical Activity and Work ConditionsHUMAN FACTORS: Mental Concentration, Sitting, Tight Work Schedules, Visually DemandingAbility to travel to various buildings on site using vehicles operated by other Laboratory personnel."Fermilab is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
