Resource Interpretation Intern will assist park rangers and volunteers in providing visitor services at JBWR Visitor Center and through formal and informal interpretation on natural topics. Intern will assist rangers in delivering education programs to 4th grade students from local schools; conducting informal interpretation and outreach events in diverse communities surrounding the park for the purpose of program marketing and reaching new audiences; delivering a variety of programs; using photography and social media to share program highlights. Interns will assist with all stages of program preparation and delivery. Internship period will conclude with debriefing and informally evaluating their internship.Seasonal programs include hands-on workshops, guided tours, and walks along park trails; education programs are conducted by park staff and partners with such focus as birds, pollinators and habitats, and using citizen science techniques. The goals for the intern are to learn about park resources, and learn and practice interpretive skills such as audience centered interpretation and dialogic techniques.NOTE: The Intern must be a US Citizen, National, or lawful permanent resident alien for eligibility in the AmeriCorps Education Award Program.

The interns will have full access to natural, cultural, & recreational resources of the 10 parks in NYC. They will be introduced to staff & partners and this will present the opportunity to further explore non-work experiences, of which there are many.
